Partner and co-chair of the firm’s M&A/Private Equity Group John E. Stoddard III was referenced in a USA Today article titled, “U.S. merger deals draw antitrust scrutiny.” The article examined the antitrust defeats, setbacks and questions facing major U.S. merger deals.

John discussed how “smaller mergers may raise fewer anti-trust concerns, particularly if the buyer is a private equity firm.” He also pointed out that “when deals involve rival competitors and industry consolidation, questions about potential reduction of market competition increase.”
