Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Team Hosts Panel on the InsurTech Sector
Overview
Drinker Biddle’s Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Team and The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) recently hosted a panel titled, “InsurTech in the U.S. Market: A Mid-Year Update” in Bermuda.
The panel included lawyers Katherine Armstrong, Michael Byrne, Michael Halsband and John Mulhern, and was moderated by co-chair of the firm’s Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Team, Thomas Dawson. Firm Chairman Andrew Kassner also attended and introduced the speakers. The discussion provided practical advice to re/insurers thinking of supporting U.S. InsurTech ventures and covered topics such as key industry leaders, who is investing and providing capacity, and the reaction from U.S. insurance regulators to this fast-changing sector. Drinker Biddle has supported BFIS’ activities for the past five years. Now in its 21st year, BFIS arranges summer internships with re/insurers and has awarded more than $6 million in scholarship grants to 140 young Bermudians interested in insurance careers and studying at universities in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
