Young Attorneys’ Takeaways on Remote and In-Person Work Post-COVID-19
American Bar Association
Product liability and mass torts associates Erica Abshez Moran and Elie Biel coauthored an article for the American Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Committee that outlines what young attorneys (including those in private practice, those in government, and those working as in-house lawyers) highlighted as the challenges they faced and the benefits they gleaned over the past 20 months, and what remote work measures they want to see carried forward.
The authors shared that while individual circumstances varied, in general younger attorneys reported that some changes have been positive (e.g., increased flexibility, increased personal time), while others have been problematic (e.g., blurring of work-life boundaries, social isolation, increased burnout).
The article notes that there is no one-size-fits-all model for employers to follow as we transition into a post-COVID-19 world and highlights the importance of flexibility that young attorneys expressed.
