WTOC Turns to Libby Baney for Insight on Fake Pharmacies
Government and regulatory affairs partner Libby Baney, who is also senior advisor to the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP Global), spoke to Georgia news station WTOC about fake online pharmacies and their role in the spread of deadly drugs in the U.S.
“The problem is, illegal online drug sellers aren’t following the rules,” Baney said. “And often they aren’t following the rules because they’re operating from a foreign country, and using our internet ecosystem, our infrastructure, our postal service, and coming through our borders to sell these dangerous drugs to Americans.”
Baney also noted that parents, like herself, should be on high alert as fake pharmacies continue to spread. “Know what your kids are doing on social media.”
