The authors cover the USPTO’s guidance on the subject matter eligibility of AI-assisted inventions from July, as well as the USPTO’s communications throughout the year about the inventorship guidance for AI-assisted inventions and guidance on use of AI-based tools in practice before the USPTO.
In the article, the coauthors also discuss Formal Opinion 512 on generative AI tools and state laws and regulations related to AI.
