Overview
Ava Giacobbo advises clients in the areas of insurance and life insurance litigation. She represents life, disability, and property and casualty insurers through trial and pre-litigation disputes.
Prior Experience
Prior to rejoining Faegre Drinker, Ava completed two clerkships in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where she drafted opinions and orders and prepared for and attended trials from jury selection through verdict in both civil and criminal matters. While clerking, Ava worked on complex business disputes, including corporate divorce and pay-for-delay antitrust litigation, as well as contract disputes, employment discrimination cases and constitutional rights cases, amongst others. She also gained invaluable experience addressing discovery disputes and complicated evidentiary issues, including Daubert issues, both during trial and in pre-trial motions in limine.
Before her clerkships, Ava worked as an associate for Faegre Drinker from 2019-21 and as a summer associate for legacy firm Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in 2018.
During law school, Ava worked as a certified legal intern in the Civil Justice Clinic, where she represented clients in custody disputes, Social Security benefit appeals and fraudulent deed transfers. In doing so, Ava appeared before custody and support hearing officers and masters as well as an administrative law judge. Ava also worked with the Supervision to Aid Reentry (STAR) program in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where she provided legal assistance to participants to aid their transition back into society. Additionally, Ava served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Mark A. Kearney in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Ava was actively involved in the Villanova Law community, serving as a student works editor and staff writer for the Villanova Law Review, and as a teaching assistant for Civil Procedure and Property.
Personal Interests
When not at work, Ava enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, toddler, Kenny, and dog, Minnie. Ava also enjoys cooking, especially her grandmother’s meatballs and Sunday gravy, and baking all sorts of treats, mostly her banana chocolate chip muffins.
