Faegre Baker Daniels Obtains Important Victory in Patent Infringement Case

Faegre Baker Daniels' intellectual property litigation team recently obtained a significant summary judgment victory for client W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. in a major medical device patent infringement lawsuit brought by AGA Medical Corp. (AGA).

AGA sued Gore in August 2010 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, alleging that the Gore® Helex® product, a device for treating structural heart defects, infringed some claims of a patent held by AGA.

Judge Joan Ericksen of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota ruled in Gore's favor on July 23, 2013, granting Gore's motion for summary judgment that the Gore® Helex® Septal Occluder does not infringe the asserted claims of AGA's patent.

The Faegre Baker Daniels litigation team was led by Jim Poradek, and included Jared Briant, Chris Burrell, Linzey Erickson, Victor Jonas, Drew McCoy, Shelley Meyer, Leslie Prill, Kate Razavi, Kevin Wagner, and Nina Wang.
