Tom Froehle Named Next Chair and Managing Partner of Faegre Baker Daniels

The partnership and management board of Faegre Baker Daniels have named Tom Froehle as chair and managing partner of the firm, effective March 1, 2017. He will succeed Andrew Humphrey, who will reach his term limit as chair and managing partner on the same date, after over five years of service to FaegreBD in that role. Humphrey also served as chair and managing partner of Faegre & Benson for two years prior to its 2012 combination with Baker & Daniels.

Froehle has served as vice chair and chief operating partner since the firm’s combination, and previously served as chief executive partner of Baker & Daniels. He joined Baker & Daniels in 1987 and built a substantial corporate and public finance practice before becoming chief executive partner in 2008, and eventually leading the firm through the combination with Faegre & Benson to form Faegre Baker Daniels.

“I look forward to the opportunity to lead a great firm,” said Froehle. “Andrew has created a strong foundation and strategic direction for FaegreBD during his tenure as managing partner with focused emphasis on providing world-class legal counsel, combined with extraordinary client service. We are fortunate to have outstanding professionals and a collaborative culture that position us well to thrive in a changing legal landscape. I am excited about our future."

Humphrey served on the committee that recommended Froehle as his successor. He will maintain an active role as chair and managing partner until March 1, 2017. After his term expires, Humphrey will remain a partner at the firm and looks forward to ensuring a successful leadership transition and continuing to support the firm’s strategic initiatives.

“Tom’s clear vision has been integral to creating the firm that Faegre Baker Daniels is today,” said Humphrey. “He is extraordinarily well-qualified for this role and will provide excellent leadership to the firm going forward.”

Froehle was unanimously appointed by the firm’s management board, and was subsequently confirmed by a partner vote in September.

Froehle and Humphrey have worked hand-in-hand for over six years to merge, integrate and grow Faegre Baker Daniels, and will continue to work together closely in the coming months to smoothly transition leadership responsibilities.
