Hennepin County Bar Association Recognizes Lica Tomizuka’s Diversity and Inclusion Efforts With 2021 Excellence Award
Real estate partner Lica Tomizuka has been named a 2021 honoree for the Hennepin County Bar Association Excellence Awards, which honor individuals for outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the community. Tomizuka was recognized for her efforts in advancing diversity and inclusion.
Tomizuka is a champion of diversity and inclusion efforts at Faegre Drinker and in the Minnesota and national legal communities. She is a co-chair of the diverse lawyers and consultants resource group at Faegre Drinker and also serves on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, a cross-office group of thought leaders directing Faegre Drinker’s strategic diversity and inclusion goals through subcommittees devoted to hiring, retention, knowledge management, client collaboration and reporting. Tomizuka credits everyone working on inclusion at Faegre Drinker, including the diversity and inclusion operations team, the diverse lawyers and consultants resource group co-chairs and liaisons, and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the excellent work being done across the firm to advance diversity and inclusion.
Additionally, Tomizuka serves on a number of non-profit boards in the Twin Cities community, including Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, a professional association of more than 60 legal employers in Minnesota working to attract, recruit, advance and retain attorneys of color. Tomizuka was also selected as Faegre Drinker’s Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow in 2013, served on the LCLD Fellows Alumni Executive Committee for a number of years, and co-founded and led a peer-mentoring program among Fellows and Fellows alumni.
In her legal practice, Tomizuka serves clients by counseling them with respect to commercial property acquisition, disposition, development and financing transactions across the United States. In addition, she collaborates with clients to form strategies, find solutions and advance business goals in all aspects of commercial real estate and finance.
Tomizuka earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School.
