Shawn Swearingen Shares Her Approach to Innovation at Faegre Drinker With The American Lawyer

In “Big Law Firms Look to Unify Work Being Done in Pockets by Creating Innovation Roles,” chief innovation officer Shawn Swearingen spoke to The American Lawyer about her role at Faegre Drinker and her approach to innovation at the firm.

The publication described the number of large law firms that have expanded their C-suite to include innovation positions since the start of 2020 as a unifying approach. Swearingen, whose role was created with the formation of Faegre Drinker, highlighted the importance of internal awareness and marketing in reaching innovation goals.

“You’ve got to make small, incremental changes. Find champions and work with them. Create, tell a story, and then repeat,” Swearingen said. “This way, you can deliver on little objectives quickly to ultimately reach a substantial thing.”
