Overview
Joseph Decker is a registered patent attorney who helps clients structure, draft, negotiate, and manage complex technology and intellectual property transactions.
IP Licensing and Transactions
Joe advises clients on critical technology transactions. He drafts and negotiates software and data licensing agreements, including transactions with significant data privacy and data security implications. Joe assists clients with intellectual property transactions, including pharmaceutical development, patent licensing, and product development and distribution. Additionally, he performs IP and IT due diligence for M&A transactions, particularly in technology-oriented industries such as pharmaceuticals, software, battery development and agriculture.
Joe has significant experience preparing technology and software agreements for leaders in the health care and life science sectors and negotiating IP licensing arrangements for large pharmaceutical companies. He also has experience supporting university technology-transfer transactions, on both the university-side and the licensee-side.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Joe was an associate at an Am Law 200 firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with practice concentrations in technology transactions and patent prosecutions. Prior to law school, Joe worked at Epic, a world-leading health care IT company, as a technical project manager in software implementation for the pharmacy division (Willow), where he focused on the technical and practical complexities of implementing enterprise-level HIT software.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, Joe enjoys watching college football and playing with his two Labrador retrievers.
