Faegre Baker Daniels' Support of Education Recognized in South Bend

On Nov. 12, the South Bend (Indiana) Alumni Association (SBAA) presented Faegre Baker Daniels LLP with the Contribution to Education Corporate Award at the SBAA's 27th annual banquet and induction ceremony.

FaegreBD was honored with the Contribution to Education Corporate Award in recognition of the firm's leadership and commitment to supporting quality education in South Bend. FaegreBD's support of education has included legal services, financial contributions and volunteer initiatives.

For more than 20 years, FaegreBD has served as legal counsel to the South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC). The firm also advises several other educational institutions in northern Indiana, including John Glenn School Corporation, School City of Mishawaka and Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.

Professionals and staff from FaegreBD have volunteered with SBCSC's Read to a Child and mentoring programs, encouraging literacy and life skills development in local children. FaegreBD has been a close partner of Perley Primary Fine Arts Academy in South Bend, organizing hat, glove and school supplies drives to benefit low-income children; sponsoring a school art contest; and donating to the art program.

"These children are our future business and community leaders," said Rich Hill, leader of FaegreBD's South Bend office. "It's absolutely essential that we help them receive an education that enables them to contribute to the vitality and growth of the community. FaegreBD is proud to support the success of our city by advancing education."

Hill serves on the board of the South Bend Education Foundation, and FaegreBD has been a longtime patron of the foundation.

Founded in 1985, the South Bend Alumni Association brings together graduates of South Bend public schools to support education by funding co-curricular activities that are not tax-funded and by raising awareness of the need for student services.
