Jesse Witten, Washington Football Team Trademark Case Receives Significant Media Attention

Numerous media outlets have reported on the on-going petition before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) to cancel trademark registrations of the “Washington Redskins.” A team of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP attorneys, led by Washington, D.C. partner Jesse Witten, represents a group of Native Americans who have petitioned to cancel the trademark registrations on grounds that the trademarks contain matter that may disparage Native Americans or bring them into contempt or disrepute.

On March 7, Jesse argued the petition at a hearing before the TTAB.

In addition, Amanda Blackhorse, one of the five petitioners, published an article in The Huffington Post and is set to be a regular contributor on the matter.
