Faegre Baker Daniels Wins Patent Infringement Trial for Global Traffic Technologies

On Sept. 20, 2013, Faegre Baker Daniels LLP won a patent infringement trial in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota for Global Traffic Technologies (GTT), involving GTT's patent for GPS-based traffic pre-emption technology. The jury found that each of the defendants — Rodney "Kris" Morgan, KM Enterprises, Inc. and STC, Inc. — had willfully infringed GTT's patent and awarded more than $5 million in damages to GTT.
Faegre Baker Daniels partners James Poradek, Chad Drown and Tim Grimsrud led an intellectual property litigation team that secured the verdict after an eight-day trial and more than 25 witnesses.
Based in St. Paul, GTT was formed in 2007 from 3M's pioneering Intelligent Transportation Systems business. The company manufactures Opticom priority control systems and Canoga traffic sensing systems. It is the market leader in traffic management systems, with an installation base of more than 70,000 intersections in more than 2,500 cities worldwide.
