Drinker Biddle’s Intellectual Property Group Listed in Intellectual Asset Management 2014

Drinker Biddle’s Intellectual Property Group is featured in Intellectual Asset Management 2014 (IAM).  The firm made the recommended list for prosecution in Washington, D.C., and for transactions in Illinois. Individuals listed include, Ira Kalina, Patrick Kelleher, Brian Rupp, Bob Stoll, Mercedes Meyer, Ronald Grudziecki, Robert Cannuscio and Frank DiGiovanni.

Ira Kalina is noted as “a technology transactions specialist with a gift for monetising intellectual property” [sic].  “Patent licensing in the healthcare sector is a feature of his practice, although entities from industries as diverse as financial services and traditional manufacturing also seek his sage counsel on all manner of deals.” Patrick Kelleher is described as “a trial lawyer with extensive experience at the district court and appellate levels” and “especially applauded for his handling of patent infringement actions involving unfair competition elements.” Brian Rupp is described as a “practical, responsive lawyer who is attentive to clients’ fee sensitivities.”

Speaking about the firm’s Washington, D.C., practice, IAM says that “for guidance on intricate issues of patent law, few can best it following its recruitment of former USPTO Commissioner for Patents Robert Stoll. “There is nobody more knowledgeable about USPTO patent practice and, with the changes brought in by the America Invents Act, his insight is even more valuable now.” Mercedes Myer is said to attract “glowing notices for her protection of life sciences innovations: ‘If you need something important right away, she will really bust a gut to get it done because she is so client oriented. She tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, which is rare; and her quick turnaround times on difficult cases are especially impressive.’” IAM says Ronald Grudziecki is regarded by many as a mentor.

Wilmington partner, Frank DiGiovanni was also highlighted for his work at his previous firm. Frank “is a talented young lawyer,” according to IAM.

Philadelphia partner Robert Cannuscio was also recommended as an individual for Intellectual Property prosecution.
