National Association of Women Lawyers Adds Peggy Steif Abram to Board
Peggy Steif Abram of Faegre Baker Daniels was inducted as an executive board member of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) on July 24, 2014.
NAWL is a national legal professional organization devoted to the interests of women lawyers and women's rights. Founded in 1899, the group has historically served as an educational forum and an active voice for concerns of women in the legal profession. Through its programs and network, NAWL provides the tools for women in the profession to advance, prosper and enrich the profession.
A corporate partner at FaegreBD, Abram has been active in NAWL since 2006, when she first served on the group's Annual Meeting Planning Committee. She has also served as co-chair of its Annual Meeting Sponsorship Committee, Mid-Year Meeting Sponsorship Committee and Annual Meeting Program Committee, and was co-chair of its 2014 Mid-Year Meeting Marketing Committee and 2014 Annual Meeting Sponsorship Committee.
Abram is a leading advocate for diversity, inclusion and women's achievement at Faegre Baker Daniels and in the legal profession. She serves on Faegre Baker Daniels' Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group and Women's Forum for Achievement Leadership Council. As a leader of the Women's Forum for Achievement, Abram helps ensure Faegre Baker Daniels is a place where women develop their careers, practices and networks. The Forum provides a platform for women lawyers to build relationships, create business opportunities, increase professional advancement and achieve long-term success.
In her legal practice, Abram advises clients on business matters including corporate governance, SEC reporting, contracts, financing, compliance and risk management. She is president of the Faegre Baker Daniels Foundation, which supports the firm's communities by providing funding to social, cultural and legal nonprofit organizations. Abram is active in the community, currently serving on the boards of the Guthrie Theater and the Breast Cancer Awareness Association of Minnesota. In 2013, she was recognized with a Women in Business Award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
NAWL's 2014-15 board members were inducted during the organization's Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon in New York City on July 24. They will serve three-year terms.
