National Leader in Government Innovation and Efficiency Skip Stitt Joins FaegreBD Consulting

Charles (Skip) Stitt—a nationally recognized leader in government innovation and efficiency—has joined FaegreBD Consulting as a senior director with the firm’s government advocacy and consulting team in Washington, D.C.

Before moving to the private sector, Stitt served as deputy mayor and chief operating officer for former Indianapolis Mayor Steve Goldsmith where he managed the day-to-day operations of a 4,000-person workforce and an operating budget of more than $450 million.

In his practice at FaegreBDC, Stitt helps public sector clients drive innovation, reduce costs and improve service delivery. He has worked on reform initiatives in a variety of areas, including government operations, public utilities and education. As governments at all levels increasingly feel the pinch of financial challenges and constraints, Stitt helps them meet these challenges through a variety of innovative approaches. Solutions that Stitt is experienced in designing and implementing include public-private partnerships, operations and maintenance contracting, internal business process re-engineering, and labor-management reforms.

“We are thrilled that a true pioneer in the world of public-private partnerships like Skip Stitt has chosen to join our firm and our reinvigorated public sector practice,” said FaegreBD Consulting Chair Dave Zook. “He draws on his many years of experience and expertise to help our public and private sector clients drive results into the marketplace by facilitating collaboration among both sectors.”

Prior to joining FaegreBD Consulting, Stitt spent more than 20 years in senior-level positions involving government, strategic consulting and a Fortune 500 firm. As a senior corporate and public sector executive, he managed and led large, complex organizations. In nine years at Affiliated Computer Services (now Xerox), Stitt served in multiple roles, including chief administrative officer, public sector COO and managing director. He managed business units that served nearly every state and hundreds of local governments. Industries served included human services, health care, finance, information technology, higher education, public safety, justice and transportation.

As an advisor to public sector entities and senior public executives, Stitt founded and then spent four years leading a strategic consulting firm working with cities, counties, states and higher education institutions on public sector reform initiatives. His range of services included operations management, driving innovation, managing costs and growing new business opportunities.

After earning his law degree in 1987, Stitt was an associate at Baker & Daniels, now Faegre Baker Daniels, focusing on commercial litigation, land use planning and administrative law over nearly five years.

He received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law, Order of the Coif, and a bachelor of science with highest honors at Southern Illiniois University
