Bob Stoll Predicts Patent Developments for 2018 in IAM Feature

Bob Stoll, partner and co-chair of the intellectual property group in Washington, D.C., contributed to an IAM blog post titled “Top Patent Market Players and IAM’s Editorial Team Make Their Predictions for 2018.” In the post, Bob offers his predictions for the patent landscape in 2018, along with other intellectual property leaders and the IAM team.

Bob predicts that Andrei Iancu’s confirmation as Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office will lead to improvements to the patent system, adding that “I fully expect him to revisit the guidelines for patent subject matter eligibility to see that 101 rejections are more narrowly applied...I also believe that [Iancu] will use his rule-making authority to level the playing field in post-grant procedures so that it is not so tilted against patent owners.”
