Colin Harris and John Marcil Named to Denver Business Journal’s 2018 ‘Who’s Who in Energy’ List

Colin Harris and John Marcil, both partners at Faegre Baker Daniels, were recently named to the Denver Business Journal’s 2018 ‘Who’s Who in Energy’ list.

‘Who’s Who in Energy’ recognizes individuals whose position, knowledge or expertise helps guide the energy sector. Nominations are received from an array of fields.

Based in the firm’s Boulder office, Harris leads FaegreBD’s energy and natural resources industry team. He specializes in the energy sector, using decades of experience to resolve complex, high-profile environmental and natural resources litigation and compliance matters for upstream, midstream, downstream and other energy clients.

Harris manages an active counseling and litigation docket before the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). Of the eight federal appellate court challenges to PHMSA final orders ever filed, Harris has been counsel in three. He also currently defends clients in three separate Environmental Protection Agency and state enforcement cases, resulting from pipeline leaks into navigable waters.

Marcil is the leader of FaegreBD’s power and utilities practice and serves clients in a variety of industries, with specific emphasis on the energy and natural resources sectors.

Marcil led a team that represented Black Hills Corporation, a power and gas utility, in connection with the renewal of over one billion dollars of credit facilities. He also led a team that represented the energy company in August, during its public $400 million debt offering of 4.35 percent senior unsecured notes.

Furthermore, last November, Black Hills Corporation turned to Marcil as the company announced its plans to exit the oil and gas business. As such, Marcil and his team represented the organization during its sale of its major oil and gas assets.
