Drinker Biddle Secures Significant Win at International Trade Commission on Stainless Steel Bar from Spain

Drinker Biddle’s Customs and International Trade Team scored a significant victory for two clients in a recent appearance before the International Trade Commission relating to an antidumping duty order on stainless steel bar. The victory is especially significant given the Trump administration’s aggressive position on tariffs, and the political sensitivity of steel imports in particular.

The clients—both based in Spain—had been restricted from exporting to the United States for close to 25 years.

The Drinker Biddle team, led by Richard P. Ferrin with assistance from Douglas J. Heffner, helped the Commission reach the determination that the existing antidumping duty order would not likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

The Commission vote was 5-0. As a result, both clients are free to begin exporting to the United States again, without antidumping duties.
