New York Times Magazine Features Faegre Drinker Clients’ Success Against Unscrupulous Minneapolis Landlord

A pro bono housing advocacy team in Minneapolis, led by Faegre Drinker partner Michael Cockson, represented nonprofit tenant advocacy group IX of Powderhorn Park in years-long litigation against the then-largest private landlord in Minneapolis.

The suits were launched on behalf of hundreds of low-income tenants living with health and safety dangers in their homes or in unlicensed buildings. Through multiple complex matters, the Faegre Drinker team revealed systemic fraud and brought increased public attention to the plight of tenants. These efforts paved the way for new collaborations and extensive reform in the rental market in the Twin Cities.

Faegre Drinker has long supported the fight for safe, fair and affordable housing and continues to advocate for low-income tenants to ensure the same.
