Counsel Emily Weissenberger Joins Faegre Drinker’s Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice in San Francisco

Faegre Drinker announced today that Emily Weissenberger has joined the firm as counsel in the product liability and mass torts practice group. Weissenberger joins the firm in the San Francisco office from Shook, Hardy & Bacon, where she was an associate.

Weissenberger is an accomplished trial attorney focused on defending clients against product liability, mass tort, environmental and complex litigation claims in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer products fields.

With extensive experience handling product liability cases from individual claims to large scale mass torts, Weissenberger has served as defendants’ liaison counsel for large pharmaceutical and medical device litigations, including the California Ovarian Talc litigation, where she handled all aspects of the coordinated proceeding, case strategy and management of more than 700 cases.

She has also counseled clients in Proposition 65 matters, including settlement negotiations for both retailers and suppliers of dietary supplements, food, beverages and commercial products, and won a full defense verdict and, at the time, the largest cost recovery for a Proposition 65 defendant in the history of the California statute’s litigation.

“Emily has developed an extensive practice, defending clients against a variety of litigation claims, that we are thrilled to add to our product liability and mass torts team,” said Amy Fiterman, leader of the firm’s product liability and mass torts practice. “We look forward to offering the full scope of her talents to our life sciences, consumer products and pharmaceutical industry clients and beyond.”

Weissenberger has represented national retailers and pharmaceutical suppliers in consumer fraud class actions, working on these matters in a national counsel role defending these claims. She has tried cases to verdict in state and federal courts and has obtained success for her clients through motions to dismiss, summary judgments and favorable settlements.

Weissenberger earned her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law.
