Indiana Lawyer Names Julian Harrell 2024 ‘Diversity in Law’ Honoree
Government and regulatory partner Julian Harrell has been named to the 2024 “Diversity in Law” honoree class by the Indiana Lawyer. The program recognizes attorneys and judges who actively work to promote different forms of diversity within the legal profession.
Julian is a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and strives to include it in his law practice. Beyond his busy practice, Harrell dedicates time to DEI initiatives at the firm and across the community, serving as co-chair of the firms Diverse Lawyers Retreat. Harrell practices a personal philosophy of servant leadership and enjoys working collaboratively with community leaders and stakeholders to marshal and allocate resources to accomplish high-impact objectives, including making the legal profession more diverse, bringing art to disenfranchised demographics and innovating strategies for adapting to a rapidly changing legal profession.
In a profile published by the Indiana Lawyer, Harrell said to him, DEI means intentionally bringing together a spectrum of experiences through which collaboration creates innovative solutions to solving issues.
Harrell also shared why he believes DEI is important in the legal profession. “Because the challenges our clients face have never been greater – and choking out innovation instead of encouraging it will only exacerbate the scope and magnitude of those challenges,” he said.
