Managing FCPA Litigation Risks in Business Partnering Relationships

Washington, D.C. partner Charlie Leeper and Philadelphia partner Mary Hansen were featured as panelists at the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Litigation Institute at the Union League in Philadelphia on June 4. The program included presentations by three law firms on topics of interest to litigators in the Philadelphia region.

Charlie and Mary, members of the White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations team, delivered a presentation entitled “Managing FCPA Litigation Risks in Business Partnering Relationships.” They were joined on the panel by George Van Kula, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of VWR International, LLC. The panel discussed the potential liability for unlawful payments made by business partners such as subsidiaries, agents, distributors and joint venture partners and offer suggestions on how to minimize corporate exposure through due diligence.
