Faegre Drinker Presents at Stetson University’s 41st Annual National Conference on Law and Higher Education

Washington, D.C., partners Jonathan Tarnow, John Przypyszny, and Faegre Drinker Consulting principal Luke Messer conducted a nearly three-hour session regarding the current federal legislative and regulatory landscape on postsecondary education law and policy at the 41st Annual Stetson University National Conference on Law and Higher Education.
The session discussed the current higher education policy outlook in the nation’s capital, including the prospects for Higher Education Act reauthorization in 2020 and key provisions of the House education committee’s current reauthorization bill; the U.S. Department of Education’s recent regulatory changes in the areas of accreditation, state authorization, financial responsibility and borrower defenses to repayment; new federal audit requirements focused on institutions’ data privacy and security compliance; and enhanced requirements for reporting of foreign gifts and contracts.
The conference, which took place from January 29 – February 3, 2020, was attended by approximately 300 higher education general counsel and student affairs administrators.
