Global Elections 2024: Navigating the Results and Impacts for Multinational Businesses
International Business Briefing
Webinar
Overview
This is part of a webinar series hosted by Faegre Drinker’s international team. The series tackles timely issues of importance for companies with international business and growth objectives.
The United States will see 33 Senate seats, 435 House seats and the executive branch up for election in 2024, in addition to state and local elections. Globally, around 1.5 billion people went to or will be going to the polls this year as significant elections took place in more than 50 countries, which between them, hold almost half of the world’s population. In particular, the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, France, India and Mexico all voted or will be voting shortly. The results of each of these elections will have a great impact on the legal and policy framework in which multinational businesses operate. Businesses will have to navigate a changing — and sometimes contradictory — landscape when doing business across borders.
Join Faegre Drinker attorneys and consultants Jessica Abrahams, Nicholas Manetto, Aaron Szabo, Matthew Kinsman and Christopher Jefferies as they discuss the results of the U.S. election and the elections worldwide that took place earlier in 2024. They will identify likely policy changes that businesses should be aware of and the key risks that should be planned for. They will speak about the geopolitical developments, as well as practical guidance for businesses to respond to them. Some topics they will discuss are:
- Climate change, environmental and sustainability policies impacting international trade and compliance
- Employment and immigration rights
- State competitiveness
- International trade
