SSA Changes Update of Social Security Wage Base for 2018
The Social Security Administration, in a press release issued November 27, 2017, revised the Social Security wage base for 2018 that it had previously announced in October, changing it from $128,700 to $128,400. As we had noted in our October 20, 2017, update on 2018 Cost-of-Living Adjustments for Retirement and Other Benefit Plans, this is the maximum wage base subject to the FICA tax and is also the maximum "integration level" for retirement plans using "permitted disparity."
We have revised our "Compensation and Benefits Limits" chart to reflect this change.
