Federal and State Policymakers Push Forward With Drug Importation Proposals
Over the last several years, there has been a continued focus at both the state and federal levels to address the decrease in patients’ access to prescription drugs due to rapidly increasing prices. Along with federal policymakers, multiple state legislatures have sought to enact prescription drug pricing bills with a broad swath of proposals, including proposals to allow for wholesale or personal importation of prescription drugs.
Government & Regulatory Affairs partner Libby Baney and directors Beena Patel and Matthew Rubin addressed such proposals in a recent article for the National Association of Board of Pharmacy’s Innovations newsletter. The authors highlight specific pathways federal and state governments have implemented to increase importation.
