David Woolf Speaks to SHRM About FTC’s Non-Compete Ban Proposal

In “SHRM Objects to Banning Non-Compete Agreements,” the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) turned to labor and employment partner David Woolf for his commentary on SHRM’s stance to urge the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to allow employers to continue using non-compete agreements with certain employees.

“That’s a common refrain,” said Woolf, on how many business groups don’t object to a non-compete ban for low-wage workers. “I don’t know anyone who says, ‘No, we need to have non-competes for low-wage workers,’” he added.

Woolf noted that in a tight labor market, some understaffed employers support the FTC’s proposal because it would make it easier for them to recruit talent with relevant industry experience.
