Steps to Success in International Joint Ventures

Corporate associates Jonathon Gunn and Vilena Nicolet coauthored an article for the American Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Committee that explores some of the major considerations that joint venture partners should keep in mind when planning and establishing an international joint venture.

Gunn and Nicolet discuss joint venture partner selection, governance, structure and funding, as well as investment value return, protection of goodwill, exit considerations and process management. The authors note that international joint ventures involve personal, cultural, commercial and legal factors, and that harmonizing these factors is crucial to success.
