Changing How We Look at Structured Settlement Transfers

Insurance partner Sandra Jones authored an article for The Legal Intelligencer that provides an update to her previous article, “Potential for a Structured Settlement Industry Shake-Up: The 'Cordero' Appeal,” from March 2023.

Jones provides an overview of the Cordero case, including the opinion entered by the New York Court of Appeals. The case is now back in the Eleventh Circuit regarding the remaining issues not certified to New York, she notes.

Jones adds that Cordero should spark more education and cause us to look at structured settlements differently.
