Lauren Linderman Speaks to Minnesota Lawyer About Using Clean Rooms to Protect From Trade Secret Litigation
In “‘Clean rooms’ shield trade secrets,” Minnesota Lawyer turned to business litigation partner Lauren Linderman for insight on the use of clean rooms in a business context to protect novel information from trade secret litigation and reduce the risk of claims that a company misused confidential information.
Linderman described the procedures involved in setting up a clean room and said, “Anywhere in the room where there is a potential for leakage is an avenue for attack.” She also discussed “considerations you will want to look at to set it up,” such as company size.
Linderman further shared situations in which a company may need a clean room, including a contemplated merger that fell through or Minnesota’s ban on non-competes, and emphasized the need to decide what information is truly confidential.
