A Look Back at DEA’s 2023 Actions on the Remote Prescribing of CS via Telehealth

In the National Association of Board of Pharmacy’s (NABP) Innovations Magazine, Faegre Drinker principal Megan Herber, senior manager Nisha Quasba and director Elliot Vice provide an update on rules proposed by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) regarding the remote prescribing of controlled substances (CS).
Herber, Quasba and Vice note that responsibilities for pharmacists remain unclear due to the lack of final DEA rules and clear guidance for telehealth prescriptions. The authors also provide insight in what to expect regarding remote prescribing of CS in 2024.
