John Przypyszny Comments on Federal Dismissal of Florida Higher Education Case in University World News

In “Florida’s Case Against HE Accreditors Fails in Federal Court,” University World News turned to education partner John Przypyszny for commentary on the dismissal of a federal case brought by the State of Florida. 

The lawsuit sought to challenge the federal government’s use of private accreditation agencies in its approval process for post-secondary education institutions receiving federal funds under the Higher Education Act, the publication reported. Przypyszny noted that the court rejected all of Florida’s arguments and reaffirmed the statutory framework deem accreditors as essentially “gatekeepers” of federal student aid programs. 

“[The court] made it very clear that the fact that this reliance exists is not a delegation of authority, and it's not the accreditation agencies that are making the determination of whether federal student aid funds should be provided to an institution,” Przypyszny said.
