As a law clerk for Justice Fabiana Pierre-Louis of the New Jersey Supreme Court, Pierre delved into areas of New Jersey and federal law ranging from the termination of parental rights to evidentiary and criminal procedure issues, both to make recommendations whether to grant petitions for certification and to aid the justice in writing opinions. He also researched parties' briefs and other court documents to prepare the court for oral arguments.

He assisted the judge and her clerks with matters dealing with areas of law ranging from intellectual property law to civil rights.
