- Preparing estate planning flowcharts, including calculating potential estate taxes due and disposition of estate and trust assets
- Preparing drafts of irrevocable trust instruments for attorney review
- Preparing and reviewing gift tax returns and related elections for attorney review
- Assisting clients and their professional advisors daily on estate planning and trust and estate administration matters
- Preparing deeds and other real estate transfer documents, coordinating with title companies on real estate matters in multiple states
- Preparing change of ownership forms and beneficiary designations relating to retirement plan assets, life insurance and corporate entities
- Assisting with formation of family foundations and exempt status
Trust and Estate Administration Matters
- Preparing federal and multiple state estate tax returns and related elections for attorney review
- Identifying, discovering, valuing and collecting estate and trust assets
- Preparing probate and trust related hearing documents for attorney review
- Preparing distribution schedules and assisting with distributions to beneficiaries
- Assisting trustees with estate and trust accountings
- Assisting with federal and state estate tax return audits and related third party requests
- Drafting nonjudicial settlement agreements for trust matters
- Drafting trustee succession documents
Past Experience
Before becoming a paralegal in 2007, Laurie worked as a legal administrative assistant with Faegre Drinker.
Personal Interests
Laurie enjoys exploring Minnesota and Wisconsin state parks as well as kayaking, paddle boarding and boating activities with her husband and three daughters. Laurie also volunteers coaching youth volleyball.
