Overview
Jim Park advises clients on all their corporate trust needs using a dynamic blend of more than 20 years of lead in-house counsel and law firm experience across the corporate trust platform. Jim has guided his corporate trust clients through a wide range of front-end transactional, default, litigation, bankruptcy and operational issues. He particularly focuses on structured finance transactions and matters within corporate trust, including residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), asset-backed securities (ABS), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized loan and collateralized debt obligations (CLO and CDO), loan agency matters and document custody.
He gained deep substantive experience and an enterprise-wide perspective from his 13 years as an in-house senior counsel for a leading corporate trust division within a large national bank. Jim was lead counsel on all structured finance matters, including as lead counsel on all new and complex front-end transactions and programs. He created, negotiated and led the implementation of document standards for all deals across its corporate trust platform. Jim was lead counsel on all default and restructuring matters, which included guiding the bank through much of the financial/housing crisis impacting the structured finance (including RMBS) space for more than a decade. He also advised on many defaulted corporate and municipal debt deals, disputed escrows, and collateral and administrative loan agent matters. Jim was relied upon for his trusted and decisive leadership on many of the most complex matters presenting significant litigation, financial, regulatory or reputational risk to this leading corporate trust business.
