Female university student athletes lodged complaints that alleged a hostile environment resulting from their teammates’ sexual jokes, taunts and other behavior. They also alleged that their coaches violated the university’s policies by condoning and failing to stop the behavior.
Our firm represented the university throughout its investigation into the complaints, and advised the institution on its responsibilities under Title IX.
The university made significant efforts to remediate the team environment and to initiate student and staff disciplinary actions, which led to the ultimate resolution of all of the female student athletes’ complaints.
