Two podiatry residency programs successfully resolved immigration-related discrimination claims brought by the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER) of the Department of Justice. Faegre Drinker advised and represented the residency programs over the course of the government's investigation, and negotiated the settlement of the government's claims. The IER conducted a year-long investigation into claims against more than 100 podiatry residency programs in the United States, alleging that the programs unlawfully limited program eligibility to U.S. citizens and thereby discriminated against employment-authorized non-U.S. citizens in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
