Association for Metroarea Autistic Children Dismisses Chapter 11 Case, Closes

United States - New York

The Association for Metroarea Autistic Children (AMAC), a nonprofit that operated a K-12 school for children with autism in Manhattan, dismissed its Chapter 11 debtor-in-possession bankruptcy case after more than a year, placed all of its students in new schools, and closed after New York City and New York State did not agree to support its restructuring efforts and develop new space to relocate the school. Richard Bernard represented AMAC in the proceedings. AMAC served inner-city children with autism and was dependent entirely on reimbursements from New York City and New York State for its survival.
