A Faegre Drinker team advised British-headquartered polymer production company Aquapak Polymers Limited (Aquapak) in its new, exclusive commercial distribution deal with Resinex, a pan-European distribution company with a leading position in the plastics and rubbers distribution market.
Under the distribution deal, Resinex will distribute Aquapak’s Hydropol on an exclusive basis as a barrier film in all European countries, except Italy, Spain and Portugal. Resinex has committed to purchasing a minimum of 8,000 metric tons of Aquapak’s Hydropol over the next three years, presenting Aquapak with a major market opportunity.
Aquapak’s Hydropol is a marine-safe and non-toxic hydrophilic polymer resin pellet, which enables users to maintain the primary function of their products while designing in end-of-life such as recyclability, repulpability, biodegradability and anaerobic digestion. It is three times stronger than the main traditional polymer films, and is biodegradable, non-toxic and water-soluble. It can be used on its own, or in combination with other materials (especially paper) to provide innovative and functional packaging solutions in some global applications where packaging is not currently recyclable.
