Merck Animal Health Acquires Virtual Fencing Company Vence Corp

Merck Animal Health, an animal health product company and division of multinational Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc., completed the acquisition of Vence Corp, a California-based company specializing in virtual fencing for agricultural applications that allows farmers the ability to rotate grazing pastures via smartphone or computer. Faegre Drinker provided legal counsel to Merck Animal Health throughout the transaction that will continue the expansion of their animal health products portfolio, particularly adding to their capabilities in cattle herd management. Vence’s product capabilities are also expected to sharpen Merck Animal Health’s offerings to cattle producers regarding the identification, traceability and monitoring of animals, as the technology allows the ability to both remotely track and move animals from pasture to pasture.
