Washington, D.C.
Overview
Office Leader
Faegre Baker Daniels established an office in the nation's capital in 1976. Today, the office houses a team of FaegreBD lawyers as well as Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting, the firm's advisory and advocacy division. The Washington, D.C. office is focused on advocacy and innovative solutions for key sectors of the U.S. economy including: communities and local government, energy and environment, health and biosciences, insurance and financial services, and public-private partnerships.
Many of the more than 45 professional consultants and lawyers have records of distinguished public service in leadership positions in the U.S. and state governments and first-hand experience creating political strategies and developing substantial legislation. This experience supports and informs our firm culture of constructive and effective advocacy for our clients. These professionals maintain strong working relationships on Capitol Hill and with the U.S. government agencies.
Community Involvement
The Washington D.C. team works with a wide range of nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life of those in the region. Whether it’s raising funds for local educational institutions or supporting area homeless, we make time for these important initiatives.
Recent community efforts include:
Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Public School Partnership Program
For more than 15 years, we have participated in this program and work closely with a D.C. public school, Anne Beers Elementary, to provide tutoring, mentoring and other support.
Sasha Bruce Youthwork
Our Washington team recently held a day of service to provide materials for homeless teenagers served by Sasha Bruce Youthwork, which helps young people find safe homes, achieve and maintain good physical and mental health, create and strengthen supportive and stable families and explore opportunities in education and careers.
Generous Associates Campaign
Each year, our D.C. associates organize a number of creative and successful fundraising events in connection with the Generous Associates Campaign, benefitting the Legal Aid Society.
Gifts for the Homeless
Working with Gifts for the Homeless, a nonprofit corporation composed of attorneys and staff from local law firms, our Washington team donates gently used clothes for children, men and women with an emphasis on warm hats, gloves, coats and blankets.
Capital Area Food Bank
Washington colleagues generously donate their time to helping the Capital Area Food Bank distribute food to those who need it in and around the region. The Capital Area Food Bank is one of the D.C. region’s primary sources for providing good, healthy food to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Each year, the organization sources and distributes more than 30 million meals for people in need.
Martha’s Table
Our Washington team volunteers with Martha’s Table, an organization that works to empower families and communities by increasing access to quality education programs, healthy food and parenting initiatives. Our volunteers help staff Martha’s Market at the Right Bright Center.
