Six Lawyers Join Baker & Daniels in Variety of Practice Areas

Baker & Daniels LLP has welcomed six new attorneys to the law firm as associates in a variety of practice areas.

All six individuals spent time at Baker & Daniels during law school — one as an intellectual property patent agent, one as a summer associate and then a legal clerk, and four as summer associates. Baker & Daniels' new associate lawyers are:

Haroon Anwar, who focuses his practice in product liability, graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law-Bloomington in 2009 and earned a master's degree at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 2010. As a second-year law student, Anwar was one of the first two recipients of the Baker & Daniels diversity scholarship and then was a summer associate at the firm the next year. He earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 2006.

Omar M. Badawi, who practices in labor and employment law, graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law-Bloomington in 2010 after earning a master's degree from McGill University in Montreal in 2005 and a bachelor's degree from Concordia University in Montreal in 2002. He was one of two recipients of the Baker & Daniels diversity scholarship in 2008 and served as a summer associate at the firm in 2009.

Kayla D. Britton, who focuses her practice in banking and commercial finance as well as bankruptcy and business restructuring, graduated summa cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 2010. She was a legal clerk at Baker & Daniels in 2009-10 after serving as a summer associate at the firm in 2009. Britton earned her bachelor's degree from Purdue University in 2006.

Duane C. Marks, a member of the firm's intellectual property team, was an IP patent agent at Baker & Daniels before graduating summa cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 2010. Marks, who earned a master's degree in biological science from Purdue University-Indianapolis in 2000 and bachelor's degree cum laude in biology and chemistry from Saint Joseph College in 1999, also has experience as an application scientist and technical consultant at Roche Diagnostics Corporation in Indianapolis.

Elizabeth M. Tolbert, who practices in trusts and estates, graduated cum laude from the Washington University School of Law in 2010 and magna cum laude from Wake Forest University in 2007. She was a summer associate at Baker & Daniels in 2008 and 2009. Tolbert raised $90,000 and organized 220 volunteers for Habit for Humanity's first fully sponsored high school build in Indiana.

Jessica Van Dalen, a member of the firm's intellectual property team with a focus on preparing and prosecuting patents, graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law-Bloomington in 2010 after earning a bachelor's degree in materials science and engineering from Purdue University in 2007. During law school, she was a summer associate at Baker & Daniels in 2009.
