Jay Warmuth Strengthens FaegreBD's Insurance and Health Care Practices

Former UnitedHealth Group executive Jay Warmuth has joined Faegre Baker Daniels as a partner in the firm’s insurance and health care practices in Minneapolis.

Warmuth has been at the leading edge of complex legal and regulatory matters in the insurance and health care sectors—and the intersection of the two—for more than a decade. His experience includes deep expertise in pharmacy benefit management services, as well as a thorough background in the Affordable Care Act and insurance mergers and acquisitions.

During his 13-year tenure at UnitedHealth Group, Warmuth held a variety of positions including general counsel of OptumRx, where he provided advice on pharmacy benefits management and pharmacy care services; general counsel of UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual, the company’s commercial health insurance business; and deputy general counsel, UnitedHealthcare Mergers & Acquisitions, where he oversaw legal support for UnitedHealthcare’s M&A activity and other strategic transactions (joint ventures, affiliation agreements, etc.)

Dick Freije, who leads FaegreBD’s insurance practice said, “Jay brings unique and valuable expertise and thought leadership to our insurance and health care practices.  He will strengthen our ability to assist and partner with clients as they navigate challenges in developing strategies for broadening their services and enhancing their market positions.”

Warmuth has become a trusted advisor with in-house legal, compliance and regulatory leaders through his skill at identifying and implementing legal and business concepts— and his success as a collaborator focused on building and maintaining relationships.

He earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude, and a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in international relations, cum laude.
