Faegre Drinker Announces 2025 Leadership Transitions and Board Elections

Faegre Drinker is pleased to announce its 2025 board elections and practice group, industry team and office leadership appointments.

Board Elections

Mike Abbott, Caryn Glawe and Aaron Van Oort have been elected, and John D’Andrea re-elected, to the Faegre Drinker board for four-year terms that will begin April 1, 2025. Josh Deringer joined the board in Fall 2024.

Abbott is based in Des Moines and advises companies, financial investors and boards on strategic and governance matters including M&A, joint venture and capital transactions and development and implementation of strategic endeavors. 

Glawe is based in Indianapolis and advises the insurance industry on state and federal regulatory and transactional matters, counseling insurers, HMOs and related entities across the country. She has particular experience in insurance company insolvency and receivership proceedings.

Van Oort is based in Minneapolis and co-chairs the firm’s appeals and critical issues group. He has argued more than 60 appeals, including arguments in 10 of the 13 U.S. Courts of Appeal, the New York Court of Appeals, the D.C. Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court, and other state appellate courts. 

D’Andrea is based in Philadelphia and also serves as lateral growth partner, responsible for the lateral partner growth across the firm. As a member of the firm’s health care group, he represents many of the largest health care institutions in the country in a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters.

Deringer is based in Philadelphia and helps private and alternative investment funds expand alternative investment options and implement innovative structure. He has a reputation as one of the top attorneys and innovators in the rapidly growing nontraded closed-end fund space. 

Practice Group Leaders

The following attorneys have been appointed to practice group and industry team leadership positions, effective April 1, 2025.

Corporate

Boulder partner John Marcil succeeds Keith Radke and Matt Meyers as leader of the firm's corporate group. Marcil represents clients in strategic corporate transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, debt financings, joint ventures, and private equity transactions. 

Government & Regulatory Affairs

Indianapolis partner Scott Chinn succeeds Dave Zook as leader of the firm's government and regulatory group. Chinn represents businesses, governments and nonprofits in public-private transactions, policymaking and disputes. He also provides advice on public sector legal matters and constitutional law.

Labor & Employment

Florham Park partner Helen Tuttle succeeds Cheryl Orr as leader of the firm's labor and employment group.  Tuttle counsels clients at every stage of the employment spectrum helping them to mitigate and solve their most challenging employment issues.  Helen’s strong litigation background provides tremendous insight into effectively counseling clients as they explore strategic and practical solutions on employment matters.

Industry Team Leaders

The following attorneys have been appointed to industry team leadership positions, effective April 1, 2025.

International 

Indianapolis partner Matt Levy succeeds Angie Castille as co-leader of the firm’s international team. He serves as co-leader with Patrick Corr. Levy represents U.S. and foreign clients in complex cross-border transactions, including inbound and outbound investments, mergers and acquisitions, international commercial agreements, joint ventures, strategic transactions, merger control and international trade. 

Office Leadership

The following attorneys were appointed as leader of firm offices effective January 1, 2025.

Denver, CO

Joel Sayres has been appointed as the Denver office leader, succeeding Jared Briant. Sayres represents clients nationally in complex IP litigation matters, with a focus on patent litigation and PTAB trials. 

Boulder, CO

Matt Stamski has been appointed as the Boulder office leader, succeeding John Marcil. Stamski advises on venture capital/private equity financing and M&A transactions that transform both startups and established businesses.

Florham Park, NJ

Frank Velocci has been appointed as the Florham Park office leader, succeeding Helen Tuttle. Velocci resolves disputes for clients through litigation and arbitration in real estate, telecommunications, health care, prerogative writ, legal malpractice and business tort matters. 

The following attorney was appointed as leader of firm offices effective April 1, 2025.

Chicago, IL   

Mike Gustafson has been appointed as the Chicago office leader, succeeding James Sawyer. Gustafson represents clients in financial and corporate matters, including complex financial transactions, corporate debt restructuring, prebankruptcy contingency planning, distressed asset purchases, joint ventures and Chapter 11 proceedings. Gustafson also maintains an immigration-focused pro bono practice.
