5 ESG Assumptions that Deserve a Closer Look
Indianapolis Business Journal
Corporate partner Scott Chinn, government and regulatory partner Julian Harrell, associate David Adeleye, and investment management counsel Walé Oriola coauthored an article for Indianapolis Business Journal that examines five high-level assumptions of working through environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
The authors explain that addressing ESG issues deserves strategic thought partnership, and they provide overviews of specific assumptions:
- ESG will fade if the SEC’s proposed Climate-Related Risk Disclosure rule is overturned
- “ESG investing” and ESG corporate strategy are synonymous
- ESG is “one size fits all”
- Global and federal standards are the only important ESG drivers
- Implementing ESG strategy requires acceptance of climate change or other potentially polarizing topics
