Brad Campbell Discusses Retirement Industry Legislation With Bloomberg Law

Benefits and executive compensation partner Brad Campbell spoke to Bloomberg Law about future retirement-related legislation with Bloomberg Law in the article “401(k) Industry Walks Tightrope in Congress to Protect Tax Break.”

Campbell said that a SECURE 3.0, a follow-up bill to previous retirement packages passed by congress, could likely come this year.

“There is an appetite for SECURE 3.0,” Campbell said. “The fact that there is going to be a major tax bill in 2025 is both a good thing and a bad thing for SECURE 3.0.”

Campbell further noted that reconciliation bills are likely to include some kind of pro-retirement legislation as well, such as tax breaks that encourage savings. He added that lawmakers looking to extend previous tax breaks passed in 2017, however, will likely look to pay for existing concessions rather than creating new ones.
