Brad Campbell Discusses President Trump’s Pick for Employee Benefits Security Administration Chief With Bloomberg Law
Benefits and executive compensation partner Brad Campbell commented on President Donald Trump’s pick of insurance executive Daniel Aronowitz to head up the U.S. Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) with Bloomberg Law.
The publication noted that Aronowitz background in insurance is a departure from traditional EBSA leaders, which could signal a change in how the agency handles plaintiff-friendly litigation, often in the form of class actions.
Campbell said Aronotwitz’s approach would better recognize EBSA’s authority as an arbiter in private-sector disputes, noting that the agency has “substantial leeway” to enact regulation that could clearly outline fiduciary responsibilities and lay out defense strategies for plan sponsors.
