Matthew Elliott represents clients in a broad range of litigation matters and investigations arising from business disputes and government regulations.
Commercial Litigation
For clients ranging from multinational public companies to individuals owning closely held corporations, Matthew’s commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts includes matters involving breach of contract claims, disputes concerning business ownership and control, class actions, consumer fraud, trade secrets, and deceptive trade practices.
Administrative and Regulatory Litigation and Investigations
In addition to commercial disputes, Matthew represents clients in investigations, administrative proceedings, and litigation related to enforcement and regulatory actions by government agencies. Matthew’s experience includes investigations and proceedings involving state departments of insurance, state attorneys general, Medicaid audit disputes, and federal agencies.
Government Experience
Before joining the firm, Matthew served as a deputy attorney general at the Office of the Indiana Attorney General, where he represented the state in civil litigation and appeals in both state and federal courts. Matthew’s caseload ranged from arguing cases in state trial courts to drafting appellate briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, he advised agencies and officials on a variety of legal matters, including in administrative and constitutional law, and helped lead multistate investigations and litigation.
Prior to graduating from law school, Matthew served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Mark S. Massa of the Indiana Supreme Court. Matthew’s experience is also informed by his background in public policy and communication strategy, having worked for the Governor of Indiana and the Indiana House of Representatives prior to law school.
